Three-eared pithoid amphora with an octopus decoration

A three-eared pithoid amphora imitating the marine style. It comes from early Mycenean tholos tomb II at Routsi, Myrsinohori, which has yielded also seveal more objects of Minoan style or imitating the Minoan style. The decoration consists of the depiction of an octopus, in a naturalistic way, within a net of offshoots. The pigment is dark brown applied against a light-coloured yellowish clay and, apart from the decorative parts it also covers almost completely the neck and the lower part of the base.
