Ghada Amer’s New Sculpture
View through CrossRef
Ghada Amer’s 2010 work 100 Words of Love is the product of a tactical realignment with aesthetic principles evident in her early work, and a radical rearticulation of those principles as groundwork for new sculptural forms. While it is impossible to predict the works’ reception and impact on Amer’s reputation as a contemporary artist, they testify to a newfound confidence in her abilities as a sculptor poised to stretch the horizon of her aesthetic fields, even as she returns to the foundational formal and conceptual principles on which her work of the past two decades has been based.
