Analysis of the Relationship Among Dispositional Mindfulness, Creativity, And Grit: The Role of Emotional Intelligence in University Students

This study explores the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in influencing dispositional mindfulness (DM), creativity, and grit among university students in Sialkot, Pakistan. A total of 231 university students from diverse ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds participated in the study. Quantitative data were collected using established self-report measures, including Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), The Grit Scale (GRIT-S), and Kaufman’s Domains of Creativity Scale (K-DOCS). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and one-way ANOVA were employed to analyze the data. Results revealed significant positive correlations between emotional intelligence and both dispositional mindfulness (r = 0.242, p < .01) and creativity (r = 0.211, p < .01). However, no significant relationship was found between emotional intelligence and grit (r = -0.101, p > .05). These findings suggest that emotional intelligence plays a key role in enhancing mindfulness and creativity, but does not have a significant impact on grit. Implications for university programs focusing on emotional intelligence development are discussed, along with recommendations for further research to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence and grit
