'La Delivrance', a war memorial beside the Finchley Road, which has for years been known to local residents as 'Gangrene Gertie' owing to the corrosion of the bronze of which the statue is made, is now restored to its normal colour and the irreverent nickname no longer applies.The figure has just been cleaned for the first time since its erection in 11 years ago. the operation has taken a week. _x000D_
