Root Nodules on Mountain Mahogany

View through CrossRef
Abstract Non-nodulated mountain mahogany ( Cercocarpus ledifolius Nutt.) plants were transplanted into a "high-nodulation potential" soil and grown in the greenhouse for 8 months. Nodules with coralloid morphology were formed on 46 percent of the plants. The endophyte isolated from the nodules had many characteristics of Streptormyces . Foliar nitrogen content was somewhat higher in nodulated plants than in non-nodulated plants. Forest Sci. 18:211-212.
