Patient, carer, and physiotherapist experiences of remote clinical consultations in a UK paediatric physiotherapy setting: A systematic review
View through CrossRef
ABSTRACT
Background
Remote clinical consultations for physiotherapy appointments are widely used in the National Health Service (NHS). The reliance on remote clinical consultations became paramount during the global COVID-19 pandemic when face-to-face interactions were not permitted. Since the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the UK in 2021, remote clinical consultations have offered an alternative and complimentary approach with existing face-to-face consultations. Despite the continued use of remote consultations there is little research on the benefits of this approach within a paediatric population.
Aim
The aim of this systematic review is to investigate the use of remote clinical consultations in United Kingdom (UK) paediatric physiotherapy settings, either in isolation or as part of a hybrid model of working, from the perspectives of patients, carers, and physiotherapists.
