Statement of the problem. Modern Ukrainian domrist, composer and scientist, Professor Liubov Matviichuk (born 1952) is a bright representative of the Kyiv school of domra performance. Her compositional activity is aimed at a wide performance audience - from beginner domrist to concert performers. Her oeuvre includes a large number of works of various genres: from original music and arrangements of folk songs and dances to arrangements for domra and domra ensemble of works from the repertoire of other musical instruments. Matviichuk’s scientific and methodo-logical works are solid knowledge that contributes to the development and education of the younger generation. Despite the undoubted significance of L. Matviichuk’s figure in modern Ukrainian folk instrumental art, her multifaceted work remains little studied, which necessitates its in-depth analysis and systematization. Objectives, methods, and novelty of the research. The purpose of the study is to determine the role of L. Matviichuk’s performance, composer and pedagogical activities in the evolution of Ukrainian domra art, as well as to systematize and analyze her composer work with the identification of its leading stylistic features. A set of theoretical and empirical research methods (systemic, axiological approaches, methods of interpretative and performance analysis of musical texts, audio and video recordings of the musician’s works, analysis of her scientific and methodological publications) was applied, which allowed us to comprehensively highlight the stylistic features of L. Matviychuk’s work. Thus, the novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive approach to the study of L. Matviychuk’s creative personality, first applied with the aim of systematizing and analyzing her multifaceted activity not only as an outstanding domra performer and teacher, but also as an original composer. Research results. This study highlights L. Matviichuk’s central role in the formation and development of Ukrainian domra art. Her exemplary performance style has defined the academic sound of the domra, while her composer work, which blends lyricism with a profound understanding the instrument nature, has significantly enriched its repertoire. The author gives primary attention to melody, skillfully developing the musical material for implementation of the artistic dramaturgy of the work. The most significant contribution to the formation of the modern sound image of the domra is the innovative use of specific and new playing techniques (viteglis, glispor, stakud), which allow to imitate the sounds of nature and enrich the expressiveness of the instrument. Matviichuk’s works, from masterful folklore arrangements to bright original pieces, not only form the basis of the pedagogical and concert repertoire of domrists, but also demonstrate ways to expand the technical and expressive horizons of domra art, combining the Ukrainian traditions with innovative approaches, shaping the contemporary image of the domra in academic art. Conclusion. Liubov Matviichuk is a unique figure in contemporary Ukrainian folk instrumental art. Her work encompasses all key aspects of the domra world, making a holistic and significant contribution to the development of academic folk instrumental music. Her performance style is a benchmark for modern domra players, characterizing by an academic domra sound, an aristocratic approach to musical interpretation, and a bright timbre. Her composer works are primarily lyrical-romantic, demonstrating the profound knowledge of the domra’s artistic and technical capabilities. Her creations seamlessly blend a respectful attitude towards Ukrainian folk traditions with innovative approaches to compositional technique and performance interpretation. Her scientific and methodological concept is rooted in the principles of developing intonation mastery, and her numerous educational manuals are foundational for training a new generation of domra players. Liubov Matviichuk is a true Berehynia (Guardian) of the Ukrainian domra, whose multifaceted contribution has significantly advanced academic folk instrumental art.
