Matthew Seig

Matthew Seig first began working for Robert Altman during the production of Streamers (1983) and continued on a range of projects for the next twenty years. He functioned as an associate producer on Tanner ’88 (1988), a co-producer on Kansas City (1996), and a producer on Tanner on Tanner (2004). He was also instrumental in maintaining Altman’s production archive, and was the editor of Altman, written by Kathryn Reed Altman and Guilia D’Agnolo Vallan (Abrams Books, 2014). In this interview, he discusses Altman’s theater work in the 1980s, the challenges of completing Kansas City and the Tanner series, and his view of Altman’s legacy.
