Sustentabilidade e Eficiência Energética na Residência Robert Schuster

The term “bioclimatic architecture” emerged in the 20th century from studies and analyzes carried out by brothers Victor and Aladar Olgyay, pioneers in the discussion. They played a crucial role in the development of concepts and principles that integrate natural resources, such as ventilation, shading and natural lighting, among others, into architectural practice, aiming to design more sustainable, comfortable and energy-efficient buildings. The main objective of this article is to identify and analyze the bioclimatic strategies implemented at the Robert Schuster Residence (1978), located in Manaus, Amazonas. The methodological approach of the study is based on two stages: the first consists of a bibliographical review, aiming to assist in the design description of the object of study. The second part comprises the analysis of the bioclimatic strategies for natural ventilation and shading recommended by the platform “Designing Energy Efficient Buildings” - Projeteee (2023) for the city of Manaus, Bioclimatic Zone 8, in order to identify them in the Robert Schuster Residence through floor plan diagrams, sections and design analysis. This project, designed by modern Brazilian architect Mario Severiano Porto, was selected for exemplary representation of bioclimatic architecture in Brazil. The results demonstrate a building in harmony with the environment, which values ​​local materials and construction techniques, integrating regional identity with the modern repertoire, and effectively meeting local needs through simple solutions integrated with nature.
