ALLAH “BERHENTI” (ŠABĀT DAN NÛAH) PADA HARI SABAT: APLIKASI BAGI PARA PEMELIHARA SABAT

The seventh day of the week is different from other days.  The meaning of God “rested” is interesting to explore.  In Genesis 2:2,3 the word “rest” is šabāt while in Exodus 20:11 is nûah.  This study explained the meaning of šabāt and nûah in the context Sabbath and gave meaning of these words for Sabbath keepers.  The word šabāt is used only for God and man while nûah is used for God, humans and animals.  God “rested” in Genesis 2:2,3 functions as a cosmological function while God “rested” nûah in Exodus 20:11 denoted an anthropological function.  The result of “rested” (nûah) on the seventh day will bring refreshment (nāpaš) for body and mind.  The change from šabāt to nûah showed that the seventh day was originally for spiritual but turned into spiritual and physical rest.  Those who want to accept Sabbath need to go through several stages: learn completely and not in a hurry; begin to practice the doctrine of Sabbath; and have the right motive in accepting this doctrine.
