H. Vettewinkel en Zonen Verf en Vernis Fabriek, Amsterdam
This facade is what remains of the Vettewinkel paint and varnish factory, on Prins Hendrikkade / Oudezijds Kolk in Amsterdam.
This building was the office and the paint showroom of the Vettewinkel company. It was commissioned for the firm in 1889, although the origins of the family business go back to 1809 when Dirk Vettewinkel established his paint manufacturing business.
The building was used by the company until the 1970s, but was burned out completely in 1973. Only the facade remained, the rest of the building was demolished (and later rebuilt).
