Abstract
This chapter explains the turmoil accompanied the Ōuchi fall, and how numerous groups tried to gain control of the lucrative China and Korea trade. Furthermore, it recounts how the Mōri and Ōtomo fought for control of the Straits of Shimonoseki and provides a narrative of the rebellion of Ōuchi Teruhiro, which was the final attempt to restore Ōuchi rule. It then explains how Japan changed, and the earlier notion of Ōuchi becoming inconceivable. Finally, it recounts Ōuchi nostalgia, and explains how, for the finality of their collapse, the Ōuchi were too great to be forgotten entirely.
