Mary is bathed by two women. In the background Anna in a cottage bed, behind this two women, one with plate, the other with spoon.
Signed in the lower left corner with a dragon and 1518 (Lucas Cranach). The painting possibly workshop work, the signing possibly later made up.
In the 18th century folder on the back: “Johan Döpar: birth painted by Lucas Cranach.”
Profiled and gilded frame, width of list 115 mm.On the back written with pencil “No 29” (22 el. 29) and “Aln 6 22.5 in the day.” Painted brown cross.
Wrangel 1676 ev. No. 137, lot 1: 103 “Johannis geburth (?) 16: -.”
In 1728 and 1756, the blackboard is called a cot piece and the former 1756 added “taken to Stockholm.” (1728: N2, 3: -)
