Long lasting therapeutic effects of Yoo's solution for ischemic stroke

MLPT. Quantitative analysis showed 70% reduction of TUNEL-positive cells in 100mg Yoo's solution group compared to vehicle group. In the 100mg Yoo's solution group 67.4 % decreased caspase-3 activity was found at 7 days after reperfusion compared to the vehicle group. Yoo's solution has long-lasting neuroprotective effects against cerebral ischemia by direct contact to brain lesions, and has clear advantages in therapeutic application. Brain tissue and plasma were collected for the analysis of UDCA levels in brain tissue after injection of Yoo's solution. Surprisingly, UDCA was found about one tenth of blood concentration in the brain tissue. The mean infarct volumes of 100 mg Yoo's solution group at 7 days was 29.7% of the infarct volume of the vehicle group (P<0.05). The Rotarod performance of 100mg Yoo's solution group showed 80% improvement, whereas the vehicle group showed 40% and far better performance on the MLPT.
