In Chapter 7, the editors have highlighted the human rights issues addressed by Dr Singhvi on different levels. Protection of human rights is necessary for human excellence. Human rights, like peace are indivisible and universal, but selectivity and discrimination have to be avoided, states Dr Singhvi. Conditionalities are frequently in danger of becoming political weapons. What is required is a constructive approach to the concept of development and strategies of development, Dr Singhvi asserts.
