Sob os augúrios de Mnemosyne: Menina que vem de Itaiara, de Lindanor Celina

It is studied Lindanor Celina’s first novel, Menina que vem de Itaiara, from 1963, which narrates the trajectory of the girl Irene in the city of Itaiara. Despite a certain recognition, especially regarding the relationship between its fictional and historical elements, Celina's literature is still little studied and this applies to this book. It is taken theories and concepts of thinkers, such as Paul Ricoeur, Plato, Aristotle, Maurice Halbwachs, and other authors who deal with the historical, sociocultural and fictional characteristics of the Pará region, to analyze the core, not yet studied in detail, of this novel, the statute of memory. In the book, the memory is, in its various aspects, related to reminiscence, imagination/ representation of what has been experienced and narration. It is the narration – at the intersection of literature with regional historical-social dimensions – that is responsible for reminiscing the city's exemplary and archetypal events and characters.
