COMPETENCY-BASED MEDICAL EDUCATION. “THE PERCEPTION OF STUDENTS REGARDING ELECTIVES”

Background- National Medical Council, has introduced a new curriculum, competency based Medical Education for
medicalundergraduates since 2019.The important training program added in this medical curriculum is electives.All
medical colleges has conducted this elective postings. Objectives- To study the perception of medical students about
elective posting and get suggestions and feedback from students which will ensure the shortcomings and help them to
overcome in next batches. Methodology-We tookonlinefeedback (google form questionnaire)to understand their
perspective and get suggestions regarding electives. Result- 93.7% students responded to questionnaire.From these
responders,98.8% were aware about addition of electives in the new CBME.93.25% were satisfied with the curriculum
of elective made,91% were satisfied with the activities included in the electives and 96.6% students said this electives
will help them in their future carrier.94.4% students were happy with their respective preceptors for guidance given by
them.71.9% students said,up gradation of curriculum with more clinical oriented learning is needed.28% responded to
suggestion question.Among these responders many of them were happy about the curriculum and conduct of electives
but few wanted more clinical oriented activities and up gradation of the curriculum. Conclusion- Every year Feedback
from students should be taken by all medical colleges and Up-gradation should be made in elective training program
