Eugene Carriere and Auguste Rodin: the problem of artistic influence

Статья посвящена дружбе и взаимному влиянию двух мастеров рубежа XIX и XX столетий: малоизвестного сегодня живописца Эжена Каррьера и его гораздо более знаменитого товарища скульптора Огюста Родена. Сопоставление парных произведений того и другого автора наглядно доказывает, что Роден нередко использовал в работе стилистические, сюжетные и композиционные находки, сделанные ранее Каррьером. The article is devoted to the friendship and mutual influence of two masters of the turn of the XIX and XX centuries: the little-known painter Eugène Carriere and his much more famous companion Auguste Rodin. A comparison of the paired works of that and other author clearly proves that Rodin often used stylistic, plot and compositional findings made earlier by Carrier.
