AbstractHydroxy‐substituierte Benzaldehyde, Aceto‐ und Benzophenone (I) werden durch NaBH3CN bei pH 3 stets dann zu den Alkylbenzolen (III) reduziert, wenn das primär gebildete Carbinol (II) unter den Reaktionsbedingungen stabilisierte Carbonium‐Ionen bilden kann, z.B. bei 0‐ und p‐Hydroxy‐ substituierten Aceto‐ und Ben‐ zophenonen bzw. Benzaldehyden.
