Afterword: Unsettling Feminism
View through CrossRef
This afterword considers The Power of the Dog and takes up the themes traversed throughout this volume in a consideration of Campion’s latest work. In Cooper’s view, the film invites further exploration of the already uneasy sexual politics in Campion’s work and Cooper’s afterword provides detailed attention to embodiment, which is central to the film’s elaboration of power. In addition, the afterword addresses Antipodean feminist critics’ disquiet over indigenous representation in light of The Power of the Dog’s adaptation from Thomas Savage’s 1967 novel of the same name, a criticism sometimes levelled at Campion’s work.
