I _____ You (Rings of Experience)
View through Europeana Collections
In the words of the artist: "My project is about the meaning behind the jewelry. In the series I created I chose to use the ring as a symbol. The rings in this series play a part in five different relationships: between a person and himself, between a mother and child, friendship, intimate couple and between a person and a deceased. Each one of the rings goes through a transformative process of acquiring meaning. They are received in an initial 'raw' state, which changes after performing a unique ceremony according to the relationship, and 'leaves' the ring in a new state. The experience of the ceremony strengthens the relationship, and instantly leaves a special mark on the jewelry. The ring treasures the memory of this 'one time' ceremony which intensifies their value for the ones who wear them."
