Assessing the Effect of Training and Development on Employee Performance: Evidence from CBE, Woldia District

Abstract
Training and development involves the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by an individual to perform effectively in assigned tasks. This study examined to assess the effect of training and development for employee performance in the commercial bank of Ethiopia, Woldia district. Data were collected through the five point Likert scales of questionnaires, and the study used mixed research approach. Stratified sampling method was used to select samples from the target population and the questionnaire was physically distributed to 244 employees of CBE, Woldia district with a response rate of (239) 97. The descriptive analysis result revealed that there is a moderate mean value of training process in CBE, Woldia district and the result of Pearson correlation result shows that training dimension variables have significant and positive relationship on employee performance. Multiple linear regression result showed that at 5% level of significance there is a significant positive effect between independent variables and dependent variables.
