Oil painting of C Strömberg, year 1889. It shows the pole ship “Sofia” at sea obliquely from the side. Sofia is a Union flag in the stern with a pop emblem in the middle of the yellow corset. The flag is thirsty. The ship is painted green, with a superstructure on the middle and there on top of the dock and two rescue boats, two masts and a flagpole. Sofia was drawn by O G Carlsund and she was built for winter conditions at Motala Verkstad in Norrköping. In 1864, she served Malmö - Copenhagen - Lübeck, 1871 - 1891 in winter traffic between Visby and Oskarshamn (Västervik) except 1884 when she went between Visby and Stockholm. In 1868, Sofia was used by Nordensköld for an expedition to the Spitbergen, and in 1883 for a North Sea expedition to the east coast of Greenland. In 1894 Sofia was sold to a Finnish company for 24000: -. The painting framed in a gilded wooden frame.
