THE DEVELOPMENT OF MUSEOLOGY IN THE CONDITIONS OF SOCIOCULTURAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE MUSEUM

View through CrossRef
The purpose of the article is to provide scientific comprehension of the trends in the development of museology in the conditions of sociocultural transformation; to determine the main directions of activity of museums as active participants in the contemporary cultural, national and political processes. The research methodology consisted in applying the interdisciplinary approach and using analytical tools of culturology and museology. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that theoretical comprehension of the development of museology in the conditions of sociocultural transformation of the museum helped identify the leading trends of the development of modern museology as a science. Conclusions. It was established that museology explores common patterns of emergence and transformation of the museum’s needs, defining the new role of the museum in society and culture. This is due, on the one hand, to the development of museology as an independent discipline, and, on the other hand, to important practical tasks. It was proved that the integrative type of scientific thinking contributes to deepening interdisciplinary connections of museology and expanding the range of museum professions; the last decade has witnessed the gradual development in the world practice of the system of terms that are characteristic of museology and actively used in the museum world, being the basis for theoretical comprehension of museology.
