AbstractThe question of to what extent Gheraert and Claes Leeu were related has occupied incunabulists for many years. In some respects their business relations are known, but it is only now, thanks to Dr. L. van den Branden's archival discovery (which he has been kind enough to communicate to Quaerendo for publication), that we can be sure that the two men were brothers. The nature of the document, taken on its own, is not, of course, immediately clear; but even so it is welconre news that Gheraert Leeu, and now Claes as well, has again been shown to have been in Bruges in 1484.
