Recovering Abstract Art Narratives in Latin America: Lidy Prati’s Writing

Pionera de la abstracción geométrica entre 1944 y 1955, Lidy Prati fue una joven artista inmersa en la exploración de la abstracción y la creación de obras de arte formalmente transgresoras en el Río de La Plata, en América del Sur. Sostengo que Prati publicó en la revista Lyra en 1956 una genealogía innovadora y crítica del arte abstracto que incluía el arte indígena y no occidental, que era contraria a la genealogía sostenida por otros representantes del arte concreto argentino. A través de una reconstrucción feminista del contexto personal de su escritura, este artículo ilumina las contribuciones de una mujer a las narrativas sobre el arte abstracto.
