Maharana Bhim Singh of Mewar Ties His Turban

This painting depicts Maharana Bhim Singh of Mewar (r. 1778-1828) in his personal chambers. He sits, barechested, on a chair on an elevated platform. He ties a turban around his head as he watches himself doing so in the mirror that an attendant holds up. The walls of the chamber are decorated with blue and white porceilan tiles. This painting was executed before Bhim Singh became the first maharana of the Princely State of Udaipur.
