Carl Hauptmann: Sämtliche Werke / Band XV: Briefe I

Martha Thienemann’s »Bride Letters« to her fiancé Carl Hauptmann were written in the period from 1881 to 1884. Preserved in 340 letters, their intimate correspondence represents an important source of information for the reconstruction of Hauptmann’s life as a young graduate and budding writer. Furthermore, this communication offers an illuminating socio-cultural insight into this period. Carl Hauptmann’s letters to his bride and later wife will be published in following volumes along with an analysis of their correspondence.
