Positive Response Tor Pre-Cancer or Cancer by ORT Inspection In Colon Diverticula

I report 2 patients with colon diverticula in whom Bi-Digital O-Ring Test (ORT) inspection could not discriminate colon diverticula from colon cancers. Case 1 Seventy year-old male patient with mild pulmonary silicosis and mild cor pulmonale. He was also treated for hemorrhoid by a surgent. He was diagnosed as having a tiny colon polyp 3 mm in diameter. The polyp was resected with colon fiberscopy in July 1997. I examined him by ORT in August 1997. ORT revealed the positive response for cancer or precancerous state of the colon. Colography performed at that time disclosed two tiny diverticula of ileo-cecal region. Case 2 Sixty-six year-old female patient with right incomplete hemi-paralysis due to old cerebral infarction. She complained of mild pain in the right iliac region. Although ORT inspection resulted the possibility for the malignancy of the colon, colography revealed some diverticula but cancer. I detected positive response for the precancer or cancer of the colon by ORT in these 2 patients who presented no such symptoms as bloody stool or abnormal bowel movement, although conventional standard examination revealed colon diverticula and failed to show the evidence of colon malignancy. Further observation should be required to know whether new occult cancer will occur or not. Then, much more clinical experiences should be collected to clarify the cause of this phenomenon.
