The first party of Italian miners chosen to work in British mines arrived at London's Victoria Station. The miners were met at the railway station by the Italian ambassador to London Duke Tommaso Galllarata-Scotti (pictured here right), Italian labour attaché Massa Bernucci and by representatives of the British ministry of labour and the British national coal board. The Italian ambassador smiles as one of the miners has a swig of Chianti to remind him of home. 22nd May 1951.
