Harvest wreaths made in 2009 after the harvest and placed in front of the church in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian village of Węgorzyn.The tradition of the harvest festival in various countries goes back to pre-Christian times. In Poland, in the sixteenth century, it transformed into Christian rites organized by the nobility with the participation of the clergy, and later also by peasants who harvested crops.Nowadays, the harvest festival is organized both locally and centrally. Its significant accent is the presentation of a harvest wreath, a symbol of the end of work in the field. Wreaths are presented by local groups, dressed in traditional folk costumes and displayed for evaluation.
