Plaster shape

View through Europeana Collections
Fragment of a plaster shape of an unidentified object. In the middle is an increase, so two depressions. In a recess is a floral embellishment, in the other a wave-like shape. It is a negative form, which was used as part of a casting mold for the reproduction of the original with its details. Related casting forms are missing. Condition: haircuts; abrasions; pollution; material residues. A manufacturer cannot be clearly identified by the shape because it is not marked. In the 19th century, plaster and casting forms and plaster models were produced in the porcelain manufactures themselves. This shape of a plaster, as well as shards and other, hardly damaged objects, were found during the redesign of the area of the former porcelain factory F. A. Schumann, Berlin, in Alt-Moabit between 1992 and 1994. Therefore, it can be assumed that it is a plaster shape of the porcelain factory F. A. Schumann. The object moved into the collection in 2004 from the stock of the Heimatmuseum Tiergarten, a predecessor institution of the Mitte Museum. Since the object cannot be identified, dating could fall into the entire manufacturing period of the F.A. Schumann factory. Dating: 1835-1880 Inventory number: K-Schum 16/22
