A symmetrical object resembling the outspread wings of a butterfly, beetle or the husk of a nut is attached to an open ring. The open ring probably functioned as a hook to attach the jewellery to a part of the body. This was probably a hole in the lobe or the edge of the ear. \Jewellery that imitates something from nature was probably made in the Middle Javanese period.
