María Elena Walsh en España y España en María Elena Walsh: cruces estético-literarios entre lo nacional, lo internacional y lo intermedial
View through CrossRef
This paper aims to carry out a textual and intermedial exploration of the Spanish traces in the work of the Argentine artist María Elena Walsh (1930-2011). Across a corpus including fragments of her children’s work, her work as a scriptwriter for the children’s program Cuentopos in Spain in the mid-seventies and fragments of her work composed for an adult audience, we intend to analyze the singularity of these productions by the artist. The justification for this approach partly stems from the ideas posited by Pascale Casanova (2001, 2005), for whom national literatures cannot be thought of separately, but within a system of international literary competition. Although Walsh’s productions have become part of what we can identify as Argentine national literature, we know that these notions are problematic in the field of literary theory (Schöning, 2006). We propose then to problematize the notion of national in Walsh’s creations by (re)thinking this dialogue between the national/local and the international/Spanish elements of her work.

The justification for this approach partly stems from the ideas posited by Pascale Casanova (2001, 2005), for whom national literatures cannot be thought of separately, but within a system of international literary competition.
