Kronika Ura-Lindy

The chronicle of Ura-Linda, although today we can state without any doubt that it is a fake fromthe nineteenth century, played an important role in the history of literature and national identityof Frisians. It belongs to a large group of modern fakes appearing in different countries of Europeand aiming at glorification of the old history. Among them, the most important and successfulfrom the artistic perspective were the following works: Osjan’s Canto of James Macpherson, Kingand Court Manuscript as well as Zielona Góra Manuscript of Vaclav Hanka and The Canto of Igor’sExpedition of an unknown author. The article presents briefly the history of the „discovery” of therelic, research on its authenticity and selected fragments of its content.
