Le procès de Jeanne Jacquemin contre Jean Lorrain en mai 1903

En janvier 1903, Lorrain publie dans Le Journal une chronique sous le titre « Victime », en fait il s’agit d’un portrait assassin à peine voilé de Jeanne Jacquemin, peintre qu’il avait encensée et découverte quelques années plus tôt. Cette dernière intentera un procès à l’écrivain, qui eut lieu en mai 1903 et Lorrain fut condamné à une lourde amende. A travers de nombreux documents, nous verrons comment ce procès occupera la vie de Lorrain toute une année et le poussera à écrire La Maison Philibert, pour financer la procédure.
