Homegardens

View through CrossRef
Homegardens are in or immediately surround the home, and they differ from other agricultural sites in species composition, ecological structure, and use. They provide food, medicines, plants of symbolic significance, and small‐scale income. Some studies have demonstrated that they fulfill a wide range of human needs, including social, aesthetic, emotional, and spiritual. They can be gendered spaces and are sites of sociality, conviviality, and identity construction. There is considerable scope to further develop the anthropological study of homegardens.
