Abstract
The Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) has encouraged industrial collaboration in its Senior Design capstone course. Very few projects have drawn the interest and enthusiasm as a recent set of projects in Motorsports Safety. The Senior Design course has dual purposes: to serve as an integrative capstone design experience, and to teach the basics of the engineering design process. Some of the process elements include: requirements capture, project planning and tracking, technical research, decision analysis, evaluation, and documentation.
