Karl Otto Meyer var den politiske leder for det danske mindretal i Sydslesvig gennem fire årtier. Han havde nogle meget stærke holdninger til mange forskellige emner, hvilket blandt andet kom til udtryk i de mange lederartikler, han skrev, mens han var chefredaktør på Flensborg Avis. I denne artikel undersøges det på grundlag af hans avisledere, hvilke holdninger og hvilket grundsyn han forfægtede omkring den sydslesvigske danskhed og det danske mindretal.
