La Sociedad Colombiana de Obstetricia y Ginecología registra con profundo pesar la desaparición del profesor Roberto Serpa, ocurrida recientemente en la ciudad de Bucaramanga.Fue el doctor Serpa paradigma de caballero, servidor de la patria, cumplido catedrático y amigo sin par.Su vida polifacética resulta de unía inquietud apasionante para resumiría en estas breves líneas. Tan sólo en los campos que nos son propios, queremos destacar, así sea someramente, sus aspectos más interesantes.Obtenido el título de Practicante Externo por concurso en 1814, se orienta luego hacia las enfermedades propiás de la mujer, y así lo vemos ganar por concurso los títulos de Interno de Ginecología en 1915, y de Jefe de Clínica Ginecológica en 1916 y 1917.
