Spatial distribution of the Serbian population in the Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla during the period 1910-2013

The Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla, situated in the northeastern region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, spans across 8.832 km2. Over the period of 1910-2013, significant shifts occurred in the ethno-demographic composition of its populace, as indicated by demographic data. Utilizing data from earlier censuses and parish records, this study traces the demographic trajectory of the Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla. The Serbian population exhibited steady growth until 1981, followed by a notable decline in its proportion relative to the total population of the Eparchy. The majority of Serbs residing in the Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla are concentrated within the Republic of Srpska (89.4%), with 8.1% located in the Brcko District, and only 2.5% residing in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This research employs a comparative approach to elucidate the evolving spatial distribution of the Serbian population within the Eparchy of Zvornik-Tuzla during the period spanning 1910-2013.
