Folding fan of embroidered and painted silk, painted by Rosie Haughton, and cardboard box, Bellini, England, 1880s. Folding fan, the leaf is of embroidered and painted black silk gauze with separate leaves for the obverse and reverse of the fan. Inserted between the two leaves are three white silk panels painted in gouache. The sticks are carved and pierced tortoiseshell with painted decoration. The larger central panel depicts a group of young people wearing the fashions of the early 19th century. The smaller circular panels on either side depict the portraits of a young man and young woman also in early 19th century dress. The central panel bears the signature 'Rosie Haughton' along the edge. All three panels are backed with white silk. The obverse leaf is decorated with coloured sequins, spangles and gilt metal thread. The reverse is plain. There are 18 sticks including the guards all of which are intricately carved and painted and decorated with yellow and gold foil. The uppermost guard is more elaborately carved and decorated than the other. The rivet is finished with blue glass studs in gilt metal claw shaped clasps. The fan box of fabric covered cardboard, lined with padded green satin and stamped green paper.  Embroidered and painted silk gauze and silk, with sticks of carved, pierced and painted tortoiseshell. Fan box: fabric covered cardboard lined with padded satin and stamped paper.
