A Few Remarks on the Name Rozafa of the Castle of Shkodra and Its Connection with the Topic of Immured Woman The article discusses the question of the origin of the name Rozafa, which is used primarily to name the fortress in Shkodra but also functions as an object name and proper name in Albania, Kosovo and the Albanian diaspora elsewhere. The article shows the different turns of the transformation of this name over the centuries; it draws attention to the difference between written discourse and oral transmission and shows how this name functions in Albanian culture today. Without arriving at a conclusive conclusion, the article opens up room for further reflection on the subject.
