And was in the last days...

View through Europeana Collections
A pair of identical copies from the same postcard, containing a black-and-white print from a painting by the English artist William Strutt (1825-1915), known as Peace (1896). The painting shows a little boy leading an animal convoy, according to the verse in the book of Isaiah, 11:6: "And a wolf lived with a sheep and a pig with capricorn and calf and a calf and takes off together and a little boy drove them." One of the postcards is not divided, and its title was printed in French. Apparently, this is the first print produced by "Lebanon" in Warsaw in 1903. The other postcard, which was later printed, is a divided postcard with the title in German. These postcards were not used and were removed from the collection of "Lebanon" postcards donated to the National Library in 1939 by the publisher's editor-in-chief, Mr. Benjamin Mintz, Warsaw.
