Development of the method of emotional self-regulation and somatic self-therapy "Recoding"
View through CrossRef
The work is devoted to the development of the methodology of the approach to the regulation of emotional states and to self-healing of bodily diseases, Recoding, which has been developed by the author for a number of years. Initially, Recoding was created as a means of emergency work with acute stress and acute bodily diseases. Its further development as a tool for systematic, non-emergency work with chronic diseases and a tool for psychotherapeutic work, along with the need to provide the process of professional training in Recoding with methodological materials, led to the need to develop its methodological base. Previously, the author considered the method as entirely based on the meditative and process paradigm. In this work, Recoding is described as a synthesis of meditative and process principle and intentional volitional influence. A set of Basic Recoding Actions is described, the implementation of which takes place through meta-techniques and specific techniques. Some Actions, by their nature and result, are oppositely directed. An important point is that various Actions can contribute to the activation of various Indirect Effects: a) the conscious volitional principle; b) unconscious regulation and search; c) the connection of the psychical with the body; d) freer expression of energies and deep tendencies. The application of various Basic Actions is determined by the Parameters of the situation of combating with an emotional and bodily problem (Internal Situation). The effectiveness of the practice depends on how optimally the interaction of the various Basic Actions in the design of the practice takes place. Such an Optimum in relation to this Situation includes: a) the maximum possible number of Indirect Effects; b) the totality of the Basic Actions used in practice is composed into a consistent, balanced, holistically working system; c) this system promotes compromise and even consensus of the parties to the Internal Situation; d) the functioning of the system of Basic Actions contributes to the realization of trends arising in the interaction of the parties of the Internal Situation. According to the author, the main mechanisms determining the influence of the Optimal Design of the Recoding practice on the effectiveness of this practice is that this Optimum gives rise to some great complexity of the interaction of conscious and unconscious processes, a greater degree of their influence on bodily processes and their provision with energy. This is manifested both in the regulatory and search activity necessary to solve the problem. Moreover, the author suggests that a more optimal conjugation of psychic and somatic systems contributes to the activation of the integral mechanism of resisting pathogenic factors previously described by the author. This mechanism, in addition to activating disease resisting and healing systems, includes their more pronounced conjugation and "reasonableness" of action. However, here (which corresponds to the author's earlier assumption) this mechanism is triggered not by the active psychic evolving of the individual, but by another process. This understanding of the nature of Recoding efficiency allows us to formulate a set of rules for the selection and engineering of practices in this method. The method of creating an Optimum is illustrated by a description of one of the Recoding practices. It is concluded that the presented conception of the method corresponds to the stage of its current development and the goals of methodological support for the educational process in it. The task is to further develop this conception.
Title: Development of the method of emotional self-regulation and somatic self-therapy "Recoding"
