SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL CONTRIBUTION OF THE SAGES IN PRECOLONIAL LUO SOCIETY OF HOMA-BAY COUNTY; KENYA UP TO 1895

The study investigated the contribution of sages in pre-modern Luo society up to 1895. It adopted both historical research design and descriptive research design. Additionally, the study used nonprobability sampling techniques and employed purposive and snowballing sampling techniques. The study found out that sages were present in premodern society and they greatly contributed to the social, economic and political organization of the Luo people. They used several methods to pass their sagas but the coming of the colonial government affected the operations of these sages.
