Inventario de la biblioteca del antiguo colegio de los jesuitas en Juli

The presented document, namely an inventory of the Jesuit library from the former College of the Society of Jesus in Juli, was drawn up in connection with the transfer of collections from Juli (Peru) to the Royal Seminary (Real Seminario) in La Paz. As was customary, the goods left behind by the Jesuits after their expulsion were managed by the Junta de Temporalidades. In addition to the list of the transferred books, the document also contains information about the journey of the items before they arrived at their final destination. Transcription and research on the inventory of the 1789 Jesuit library in Juli is the beginning of a larger project, which will also investigate the inventory of goods from 1768. The transcription of these two documents will provide an opportunity to compare them with other local libraries of the Society of Jesus. An interesting issue is the private book collections of Jesuit priests, reflecting their academic and theological interests, as well as their possible contribution to local knowledge and culture.
