ABSTRACT
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Safia Mahabub Sauty is first author on ‘ Mutations in the DNA processivity factor POL30 predispose the FLO11 locus to epigenetic instability in S. cerevisiae’, published in JCS. Safia Mahabub conducted the research described in this article while a Doctoral Researcher in Krassimir Yankulov's lab at University of Guelph, Guelph, Canada. She is now a Postdoctoral Fellow in the lab of Dmitry Gordenin at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Durham, USA, working on understanding the maintenance of genomic and epigenomic integrity.
