Ovaj rad počiva na pretpostavci da je djelo "A Visio" u kome je Yeats izložio svoju teoriju psiholoških tipova, cikličkog kretanja povijesti i zagrobne egzistencije konstitutivno za Yeatsovu kasniju poeziju. Glavna mu je zadaća da ispita načine funkcioniranja "A Visio" unutar pjesama. Izoliraju se tri glavna načina funkcioniranja Yeatsovog sistema — koji je izložen u proznom djelu — i poeziji i uvjetno se imenuju: ilustrativan, metaforički i egzistencijalan, Na primjerima koji ih objašnjavaju pokušava se vrednovati korištenje sistema kod svakog načina ocjenjujući uvalite stvorene poezije.
