Die erste Sektion dieser 36. Ausgabe des Bloch-Almanachs gilt den Künsten und deren Bedeutung für Ernst Blochs Philosophie. Dokumentiert werden die Beiträge des Symposiums „Konkrete Utopien mit und nach Ernst Bloch“, das im Kontext der 1. Biennale für Neue Musik der Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar am 27. Juni 2021 im Ernst-Bloch-Zentrum stattgefunden hat. Hier wurden sowohl philosophische als auch biographische Aspekte von Ernst Blochs Verhältnis zur Musik präsentiert. Zusätzlich können die von Dietrich Brants (SWR) moderierten Gespräche mit dem Komponisten Cornelius Schwehr nachgelesen werden, dessen eigens für die „Biennale“ komponiertes Bloch-Stück „wir sind“ beim Symposium uraufgeführt wurde.
